Tears of sorrow as 300 level OAU Pharmacy student drowns In Osun state

A 300-level Student of  Pharmacy department identified as Emmanuel Fatile was said to have met his untimely death at a hotel outside the campus while swimming. Fatile  who was said to have gone to swim with two of his friends on Sunday, June 18, and after several rounds of swimming with them, decided to swim again alone in the pool.

This ended up being a tragedy, as the deceased who was later fingered to be an expert swimmer, drowned before lifeguards could rescue him. He was confirmed dead after he was rushed to the hospital.

The school's PRO, Biodun Olanrewaju, sent his condolence to the Fatile family after confirming the incident. He also warned other students to endeavor to stay within the school premises.

Meanwhile, the management of the hotel where Fatile drowned, released a statement concerning the student unfortunate death, claiming that he was actually a good swimmer, while expressing their shock.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ile-Ife, the general manager of the hotel, Mr John Olalekan said: "I want to put it straight that our swimming pool is fenced and secure. The person that died inside the swimming pool was an expert and a trainer himself. He usually teaches other people how to swim. He had already completed swimming; he came out and went back inside the pool again. It is only God that can tell what happened. It is not explainable. If he was an amateur that came to swim, we couldn’t have allowed him to swim without using the floaters and tubes. "We even give experts tubes. I think it is the wish of God. It is an unfortunate thing. This is the first time such will be happening. No one has died in our hotel before."

Some of his friends took to social media to mourn him, see screenshot below:

  RIP TO FATILE EMMANUEL
